Sam
Rayburn Middle School in San Antonio, Texas hosted the 1998
Solar Race Car Events took the starting blocks that were set up in
the school's tennis courts. Each start and finish racing block was
connected by a guide wire which enables the vehicle to steer into the
finish block via eyelet(s). Poor eyelet design was the deciding
factor in some of the cars' performances.

designed to race in one of the two entry categories, FAST or
CREATIVE, see the race rules for an explanation. To the left, fourteen creative
cars are waiting to be judged on such features as transmission,
wheels, originality, and chassis.
