The purpose of this site is to provide practical information on solar energy and energy efficiency. Whether you're designing or building a new home or need more information on solar water heating or heating a swimming pool we hope you find this information helpful. Our monthly meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the UTEP campus room 205 of the classroom building, next to the engineering building. If you have questions, please call Cecy at (915) 772-SOLR(7657) |

May meeting Devid Nemir from TXL Group will be talking at our May Meeting about thermoelectricity followed by a discussion of its use in scavenging the energy in waste heat streams. TXL Group's entry into the 2008 Space Elevator Competition will also be described. Thermoelectricity is a renewable, green energy. It may use solar energy as a means for developing the required temperature differences, so there are intersections of thermoelectric technology with photovoltaic (solar cell) technology and with passive solar heating applications. The meeting will be at 7 PM on May 1 on the UTEP campus, room 205 of the classroom building next to the engineering building. Coming in June, Steve Baer will give his annual talk. Saw this video from CNBC (through Yahoo! Finance), we thought we would experiment with videos while showing that many, many people with money are looking into solar and other renewable energy companies. Investing in a Green Future And from Morningstar, an evaluation of solar stocks The El Paso Solar Energy Association (EPSEA) was founded in 1978 and is the oldest, continuously active, local solar organization in the United States. EPSEA publishes a monthly newsletter on solar energy and EPSEA activities. The purpose of EPSEA is to further the development and application of solar energy and related technologies with concern for ecologic, social and economic fabric of the region (West Texas, Southern New Mexico, Northern Mexico). In addition to monthly meetings/seminars, EPSEA conducts technology demonstrations, information booths, and conducts project development work related to renewable energy technologies in the Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico. EPSEA is a Chapter Member of the Texas State Solar Energy Society, of the American Solar Energy Society. EPSEA is a registered nonprofit 501 (c) (3)
