NTREG Member Projects

Our projects involve solar energy or energy conservation in almost any form. We design them. We build them. We buy them. Sometimes we install the equipment ourselves .. or have the equipment installed by others who are often specialists in the solar energy business. This includes solar electricity, solar hot water, solar cooking, wind energy, passive home heat or light, educational displays, and so forth. Projects cover a wide range of interests and are often educational in nature, such as a school science fair project, a solar trailer, or installation of solar equipment at our home or business .. to name a few.

Projects may be in the planning stage .. in process, or completed. Finished projects will remain posted on our website for educational and informative purposes.

Solar Trailer

Project Owner: Dan Lepinski

Added: March 17, 2009

2,150 watts of Sanyo solar panels, 20 kW-h of Rolls-Surrette Batteries, and 12,000 watts of Exeltech sine-wave inverters all combine to provide massive amounts of power for various environmental event soundstages, emergency communications, and other needs.

The Solar Shuttle showcases two full-size, fully independent portable solar electric systems capable of powering a modest, energy-efficient home.

The Renner Residence

Project Owners: Mike & Elida Renner

Added: October 20, 2008

A work in progress, Mike and his wife Elida are always looking for ways to increase their solar power generation and improve their system. They have solar electric, solar hot water, radiant in-floor solar home heating, rainwater capture, and a BIG 10,000 watt wind generator!

Even their greenhouse is solar!

A detailed photo-journal with more than 30 images is available for download on their project page.

The Westbrook Residence

Project Owners: Paul & Elena Westbrook

Added: June 1, 2007

Paul and Elena designed their house with four major goals in mind: energy-efficiency, environmental friendliness, and low maintenance, and cost effectiveness. They chose a passive solar design with active solar water heating.

Their yard contains an abundance of native trees, plants, grasses, and wildflowers. They preserved most of the site in its natural state, and practice organic gardening principles to encourage biodiversity and wildlife.

The Tremblay Residence

Project Owner: Chantal Tremblay

Added: March 31, 2007

Solar pool heating extends the swimming season for the Tremblay family, reducing their utility usage, and saving them money at the same time!

Solar hot water, whether for personal or recreational use, has the fastest return on investment of any solar technology.
