Saturday, May 15th, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, Texas State Representative Marc Veasey will host a Green Energy Fair for constituents of House District 95 in Fort Worth. The purpose of this fair is to provide information about the upcoming Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday taking place over Memorial Day Weekend, May 29-31, 2010. Additionally, we'd like to provide information about renewable energy and how solar energy in particular can reduce energy costs and utility bills. Meadowbrook United Methodist Church Community Life Center, 3900 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth. There is no cost to participate. They ask only that participants be responsible for their own table set up. Fliers and give-away items are encouraged. 14th Annual 2010 Austin Cool House Tour, June 6th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year, Austin's Cool House Tour includes a net zero energy home among their mix of affordable houses, remodels, middle- and high-end new construction. The Tour offers insight into what we can do to improve our homes' energy efficiency, and an opportunity to talk directly with the home owners who did it .. how they did it .. and what they might do differently. You must have the $15 guidebook to take the tour. It's your Tour ticket, and is nw on sale at the information desk at both Austin Central Markets. Companion tickets ($15) for those wishing to share a guidebook, will be available at all the homes June 6, as will a limited number of the guidebooks.

City of Bedford Solar Energy Workshop "Solar Energy - Is It for You?" (scroll down to Sept 11). Sponsored by the City of Bedford, Texas, but open to the public, including residents of other communities. Free. No registration required. 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm, September 11, at the Bedford Public Library, 1805 L. Don Dodson Drive, Bedford. Get answers to such questions as: What is solar power and how does it work? Why is solar electricity preferred over wind power in urban settings? What financial incentives are available? .. and many others.

North Richland Hills Energy Efficiency Fair The Fair will take place Friday, September 17 from 3 pm to 6 pm, and Saturday, September 18 from 10 am to 1 pm in the Community Room at the North Richland Hills Public Library, 9015 Grand Avenue in North Richland Hills. Information booths will be set up, and residents can vist one-on-one with energy efficiency specialists from the public and private sector. Free weatherization kits will be provided to attendees while supplies last. Applications for financial assistance for home energy audits, energy efficiency upgrades, as well as weatherization will be available for low-income NRH residents. City of Arlington Ecofest, 10 am to 10 pm. Ecofest, a free, family oriented event, helps build a sense of community, stimulates environmental awareness, and promotes stewardship across North Texas. Musical entertainment from local musical talents performing at the Levitt Pavilion. Classes on do-it-yourself projects to reduce consumption of natural resources as well as discussions to enlighten North Texans on different environmental issues and what we can do to help reduce, repair and prevent these problems in the future. The "Solar Shuttle" will provide 100% solar power for the Rock Band competition stage!
